File Explorer .blend icon previews

I just noticed that in the new Asset Browser, .blends have a thumbnail preview now. Could this be done for the icons in the default os icons please?

yes, this should work but apparently there is bug in blender installer and it is not working as supposed

to fix that You have to run Blender with "-R" argument blenderartists.org/t/blend-files-not-using-preview-thumbnails-in-windows-explorer/643180/7

Two points to mention here:

  • This only needs to be run once, not every time (It resets file associations)
  • This is a Windows command. If you are on iOS or a Linux flavour it won't work.
