auto-snap time to selected key

I'm finding that it would be extremely useful to be able to have my current time snapped to my selected keyframe in the graph editor or dopesheet.

This is especially helpful when trying to adjust subtle timing by tweaking a curve. Often, you want to see the result of the tweak as you're working on it.

The current workflow is to click with the LMB to set the time near the key, then RMB on the key and G to move.

If you are selecting mutliple keys, the time can snap to the last selected key (or active key).

Box-select would grab the first key in the selected range.

This sounds like something that a user may want to only have on optionally. Where would the control for that reside in Blender's interface?

If it's a global control, then it can be in the user preferences. That way it's consistent between graph editor and dopesheet.

I like the idea of keeping it consistent across various timeline interfaces (Graph Editor, Dope Sheet, Timeline, NLA)... but I almost feel like a user would want to have quicker access to such a toggle. Or is this the kind of behavior that you either want or your don't and you rarely toggle it?

I could see how it would be useful, but I would certainly want to turn it on and off frequently. Though I'm no animator :)

Dare I suggest a modifier key? E.g. Alt-Click the keyframe?

In my previous life (aka head of animation at dreamworks), I used this feature daily in my animation.. and never wanted to turn it off. :)

I've always found myself having a hard time getting the time head to where the keyframe is at, also would be nice to be able to snap the time head to a marker

I'm 6 years late, but just wanted to say it would be incredible to implement this feature, as it would speed up an animator's workflow significantly. I use it to jump from keyframe to keyframe to edit my animation in the graph editor. The software I've been using for 9+ years doesn't have the option to turn that sync off. Jason knows =)
