SIde Bar Organization for Huge Amount of Shortcuts

Hello guys. The shortcuts feature has been around for a long time in blender already but I have found that this feature might make sense when you start to have a numerous amount of shortcuts and also without forgetting the need to organize a set of shortcuts for different workflow style of projects.

This is just a proposal and I am not sure if other people might find this useful.

Thanks.

I understand the desire for this... but at the same time, I have to question whether it's not a misuse of quick favorites.

I mean, if you're drilling into your own organizational structure for shortcuts, it stops being a shortcut and starts being a means of subsuming Blender's navigational structure with your own. If you're doing that, then why not just make a custom keymap or use the Pie Menu Editor add-on?

* @Jason van Gumster * Maybe I have been used to the workflow of vector editing softwares. I find it preferable to have to main screen as much as possible to not additional menus popping and blocking around my view and let the side menus be the one that will be filled with those buttons.

In my experience it works good because the mouse is more common on the right and it is more easier to hover buttons on the right tabs because your right hand is mostly comfortable around those area of the screen. But to your point this is just my preference and it might not even be necessary for most of the people. I just hope a developer might create an addon similar to this one.

After a quick search, it seems that Pie Menu Editor has all the features to do that (creating a side panel with custom buttons).

* @ xan2622 * Thanks for the heads up.

* @ xan2622 * One reason I would prefer it to be place on a side bar is that it tends to be overcrowded if you put too much shortcuts on the pie menu editor, whereas in a side bar it is much forgiving because it doesn't block your view in a significant way and still manages to look organized.

If this will have a small chance in being integrated into blender, I hope someone still can turn this into addon.
