Built-in updater

Hello! I want to request the built-in program updater (like Firefox and other soft have). It would great to don't make the -remove/install- cycle with every Blender launch.

Thx in advance!

I vote for this a built-in auto-updater including the option to update (overwrite) an existing version, which should be enabled by default as I think that for most users this will be the desired default behavior.

But give us the option. Please still distribute blender in ZIP form. I will never install blender via msi. I can't imagen not having a working copy of the previus version.

* @othoap * They just could add the option to update the existing copy or to install to a new directory. I also think that the current installer installs each version into a separate directory like:

C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 2.83

I think the default behavior should be to update an existing version with the option to install a new copy if desired.

This would be useful for industry applications as well, where companies might be reluctant to install new software each update (because of permissions, etc)

You can use the Steam version if you want.

* @ xan2622 * That's fine, but would be better not to rely on Steam being open in order to have Blender open and working...

Lauloque

You can use Blendrr without steam running.
