It's not really clear what you're suggesting here. It sounds like you don't want unlinking, but instead you want to make instances local. That's already possible.

* @Jason van Gumster * What I am trying to achieve is to make the instance of an object separate and have an independent data. Making the selected object not a part of an instance anymore. Is this possible already?

* @johnpdelacruz26 * Are you linking from a separate file or linking within the same file? (both are possible)

* @Jason van Gumster * Ex:

  1. I use shift d for the box object
  2. I want to make the instance to be a separate object and unlink it to the original box.
  3. After unlinking, for some reasons it will just remove it. Is there a way to preserve the duplicate?

* @johnpdelacruz26 * <kbd>Shift</kbd>+<kbd>D</kbd> creates a full copy duplicate rather than a linked duplicate. Did you perhaps mean <kbd>Alt</kbd>+<kbd>D</kbd>?

* @Jason van Gumster * You are right. I missed the point. I could have just make a regular duplicate to the instance that I want to unlink if in any case I want to preserve an obeject similar to it in a specific area or location. Sorry for the confusion.
