Shear in "simple deform" modifier

That entire Simple Deform modifier could use an overhaul

If you really need shearing in your workflow you could try using a lattice instead, like this:

Do make sure to set the interpolation type to 'linear' inside of the lattice, or it won't look quite right:

This would be a handy extra option in the simple deform modifier though, I agree. It seems much more accessible.
