Identify poles number
Is there a way to have a feature that will help identify poles number? e.g. 5-poles, 6-poles, etc.? The same way we have a "faces by sides" to identify N-gons, I think poles identifier will help greatly in avoiding high-number poles.

It exists already. Select a vertex, press shift+G, select by amount of adjacent faces / or amount of connected edges. I use it every time to clean up my meshes

* @cross_randall * Thank you! This is great.
For the upcoming v4.4 we will have a new pole selection operator under the "Select By Trait" menu, allowing to select geometry of nth poles of different relations:

There was an Addon for 2.7 called "Meshlint". github.com/CodeNoob23/meshlint . If you a programmer you can transpose it to 2.8.
This could probably be easily done with an add-on.
