Sketching on a Sculpt
Why not add a way to make a sketch on your model while you sculpt, similar to how you would would draw on a pumpkin or how you would prepare wood to carve.

Have you tried to use the grease pencil?
Or vertex paint?
This already exists in blender, you can use annotation tool for quick sketch or grease pencil for more complex ones
I see what you are trying to point out but this would probably be just a rare occurance for an artist to need some tracing abilities while sculpting.
On the other hand you can utilize the mask painting function in the sculpt mode. That is probably almost/nearly the same way as tracing something.
if you mean paint and sculpt at the same time... keep dreaming!

Do you mean alpha projection or manually drawing something on the mesh?
