Allow wireframe objects be visible when there is an image empty behind it.
Now when you have an image empty and then you go to wireframe view, the object that renders in wireframe mode, is invisible when the image is behind it. I think that's little annoying when you need to model something.

Strange behavior indeed, but It seems to be true only when the image is selected. Also you can always enable x-ray on your object.
It is possible to have that behavior without having the image selected also.
Yes. I can reproduce it. I still am not sure which selecting thing causes it, but you have to select and deselect them different ways in wireframe mode and some of them cause that and you can't fix the file after that. It will be for ever like that after you made it. At least I don't know how to fix it.
