Do preview when trimming, moving, sliding, slipping and rolling.

When moving the active strip or it's handels, it is industry standard to preview the frames affected by the operation in the preview(or else the users will simply not know at what frame they're cutting). Ex rolling a clip, the current frame from both sides should be visible during the operation(ex. from an old add-on attempt): Link (But the double preview should be within the normal preview, and not in a split preview area, so it would also work in backdrop etc.)

Roll: Show the inside and the outside frame(like the video above).

Dual Roll: Show 4 previews with first and last frames inside and outside of active strip.

Slide: Show the two frames from the lower strips surrounding the active strip.

Slip: Show the first and last frame inside the active strip.

Trim: Adding or removing frames in either the start or the end of a strip.

@Richard Antalik (ISS) has a preview function for this in his Blade Tool, but it needs to be more generic to also fit the purposes above: developer.blender.org/D7379

Yeah, this is super necessary to make the VSE actually usable. This isn't even really QoL, it's imperative we know what we're looking at while we're performing operations.

* @daniellapalme * You mean this: "Moving a clip under the playhead should refresh the viewer in realtime"? That's unrelated. Take a look at this the patch by ISS, I mention above: media.blenderartists.org/uploads/default/original/4X/4/3/c/43c765a730b24505d7834249a24a4b5622ec0310.gif Notice that the preview updates are unrelated to the playhead.

* @ tintwotin * Oh I see, my bad. I wonder if Sergei could add that. You could message him I'm sure, if you are polite.
