Using numbers for tools

Selecting tools become a frequent operation with 2.8 and using number shortcuts for tools will let us develop muscle memory and work faster. ( If you are a gamer, you may already consider numbers as your tools. :) )

When tool count is more than 10 we can use modifiers like shift or alt. Ctrl is registered for subdivision. It means we may have the tool short cuts up to 30.

If the numbers shows at a corner of each tool button, people can start using shortcuts immediately. By the way order of tools must be adjusted according to shortcuts of course.

Currently number keys selects collections according to their order but you may change the order of collections repeatedly. Different files will have different collections at different numbers. For example you may have lights in different collection numbers in different files. You can't have a habit about it.

@betmen: They just made it that way due to popular demand by the fans of the old layers. Although I use the numbers a little for that purpose, I think those keys are too important for something that's not so often used. Tools or selection modes are a much better use

I'd rather have letters for each tool (like Photoshop). Preferably each letter being the first letter of the Tool. In case there are many Tools with the same letter (like Shear, Shrink, Smooth, Spin...) we still keep one letter for the tool. (No Ctrl, Alt or Shift).

@Ryxx: Yes, I would rather too. But some how they insist this minimal key map. I cant use blender as fast as I used to be. It is not because it is different, It is because every time i want to call an operation I have to click more. I have to open menus, click toolbars. I want shortcuts back. Numbers are not my firs choice.

Yeah, it used to be like that in sculpt mode. Although I quite like using 1, 2, 3 for vertex, edge and face selections in edit mode.
