Option to Rename Mesh Data When Renaming Mesh Object

I like to keep my data organized and so I rename my objects. I then immediately go to the Properties Editor > Object Data tab and drag my new object name into the Mesh Date field to rename the mesh data as well. I will probably do this for as long as I use Blender, because if I were ever to use that Mesh Data, finding the right thing in a sea of Cube, Cube.001, Cube.002, etc is unintuitive, especially when Cube.028 may actually be the vehicle model I am looking for.

It would be nice when renaming with F2 to have a little enable checkbox that would auto-rename the object's mesh data at the same time that it renames the object, or some solution that saves the added step I described.

Better yet, this could be one of those "breakable link," type things, where it does this automatically for you until you manually change the mesh data by itself, therefore "breaking the link," and separating the two.

Wow, Thanks for letting me know about Viewport Rename. I couldn't have got what I asked for any quicker than that : ) What I would really like to see is for that to be standard behavior as Zach suggested, but I am sure there is some major problem with that,

* @ Vyacheslav * But including it by default seems like a good idea non the less. While I don't doubt that a significant amount of people find a use in naming the object and mesh separately, there are a lot of people who would never find a use for it.

* @Zach Hixson * I think, this addon will appear in the main pack at first. And then, may be, it will be a part of core code.
