Local Object Motion Blur

instead of a global button. the ability to add motion blur to a single object while the all other objects dont have motion blue enabled.

controll over what object has motion blur could save up on render times and also help achive some non realistic results, which can be favourable. without going into the compositer

Perhaps the other way around would be a bit better, like having the global motion blur and a per object setting for disabling the effect locally

* @Shimoon * ya like cycles has

i was saying this cos cycles has it you can disable motion blur on objects

jtxt

Some considerations:

  • This is somewhat possible already.
    • Use compositing to mask the vector pass by object before sending the the vector blur node. It wouldn't save (much) on render time. But using compositing motion blur might be faster then cycles'/eevee's motion blur anyway? (test)
    • Use two scenes, one with your motion blur objects, one without, composite them together. This might save render time. (But if there's sudden camera motion too, this may look weird.)
  • A per object flag might require difficult code surgery, might slow down the render process?
  • Would you still want to keep motion blur from camera movements?
  • How big is the motion blur overhead now? Please test and show your results. Test with one object moving, and with deforming meshes and nothing moving, and motion blur turned off. also compare with the compositing method.
  • If it's still slower even when nothing is moving, then there is probably room for optimization.
  • Perhaps that optimization could be automatic, no need for more UI.

* @jtxt * oh i did not know it would cause more problems i thought it would improve since less objects were being processed. this is not something that is super needed i just thought it would be nice to play around with motion blur per object (eg only particles having motion blur which looks really nice) like i do in aftereffects in real time.

nvm the long way is good too

:P and yes i did see a tutorial on how to do this before i posted this and it had the same method and i already did it

PS i have not had any issues with the motion blur personally its just great, i love it. i mentioned peformance as a suggesting not as a problem i was facing. it works at normal speed for me
