Suggestion: Make Timeline work like N / Side Panel

While many things require heavy duty and need to be an seperate editor, I think the timeline function is abit too limited comparing to dope sheet and graph editor, making it (maybe) quite pointless, and should have just merge whatever it has with dope sheet.

However, timeline is simple, and that is good, while I think its too simple to be a standalone editor, I think it would be nice to include it as a "Bottom Panel" similar to N/Side Panel. With that you can easily navigate your timeline in most editor without fiddling wiith your UI.

disagree completely. I don't animate, never touch animation, never need the timeline. Why would it be permanently attached to the 3D viewport (even if collapsable like the N panel)? I write a lot of scripts, maybe the text editor should be attached to the 3D view like the N panel? :)

point being- a lot of people use blender, you can't assume everybody uses it the same way.

Timeline can be use to view animation, simulate, and some other stuff, you also can uses it to render multiple camera and many other uses.

perhaps you can even use it like slides sometimes, timeline basicly show you stuff on the viewport other than frame one.

of course you can disagree with this, but I think it is quite handy to have that.

the idea to make it like the N panel, is I think keyframe is indeed part of the viewport, that is just my opinion tho.

How is it pointless?

The only time I ever need timeline is when I want to change the Frame range, aside from that I almost always just use dope sheet, might as well just merge them together
