VSE should match ALL properties to first incoming clip
Blender video editing via VSE can be super slow if you don't match all the properties of the video you are editing as it goes through and rescales everything to match. Currently I believe it can match the length of the move, but how about automatically pull the frame dimensions (including aspect ratio) , frame rate, current encoding and length?

I think maybe an option to select a clip and then select "Match project to clip" would be food.
some of those features were added in the latest version of blender: 2.77, but still some are lacking. i think, they will add in next versions. for now, try out 2.77, some work may become easier
