Breakdowner in curve editor

The breakdowner tool is extremely useful when posing in the 3d view. Having the same capability on any selected key(s) in the curve editor would be incredible.

Breakdowner works for me in the Curve editor. I have a pie menu setup with Breakdowner in it. I click it, move the mouse for the pose I want, then Insert a Keyframe with hotkey I. There is an option in the Insert Keyframe menu for Only Selected Channels.

I hope this is helpful.

It works on the selected channel? Even if it's not in a bone?

Not Sure I follow. But if I select a bone, and do breakdowner (with custom hotkey) there in graph editor, dopesheet or action editor, then insert a key for only specified channels it works just for that channel. I haven't tried anything but bones.

If you set a keyframe on something other than a bone.. It's possible to animate almost anything in blender. Having breakdowner only available on bone animation is a limitation.

Oh, I understand now. As a work around for now, you could bind it to an armature an animate it that way?

Of course, that's a workaround - but it severely limits the capabilities of the curve editor & the fact that you can (and should be able to) animate almost anything.

They recently added the ability to animate almost everything. So it is not 100% coalescent with Blender. Actually, most of Blender is like that. About 75% complete. Take the timeline, what use is it? They just added Keyframe Type selector in 2.78 build, on the timeline's header. Which as you probably know, you cannot view the keyframe type on the timeline, you must use the dopesheet... Stuff like that is annoying. But luckily I can script and put it where I want it! haha
