Real time freestyle outline viewer

Hello guys. I would like to propose an idea to have a shader that will produce an outline that is customizable.

I already found a way to create something that would resemble this one but making it a shader would make things faster.

Thanks.

* @zgorg2004 * Thanks for the information. I will be trying this. Some of them are very complex but I may learn something from it.

* @johnpdelacruz26 * trying is the best. and sometimes after a time it seems easier

Describe the shader. Be specific. How do you envision it working from the user perspective? What are the controls? How does a user add it to an object? What would the resulting render look like?

Otherwise, this is very vague and difficult to discuss or even for a developer to implement.

* @Jason van Gumster * I don't know if I am missing something but similar to freestyle. I believe you can only see it after rendering.

very interresting easy way blenderartists.org/t/edge-node-in-2-8/1133675/2 hard way blendernpr.org/edge-node-v1-2-4-july-2015/ well the second solution uses compositing like there blenderartists.org/t/edge-nodes-composite-based-edge-detection/560191 but should be possible in real time. the problem in eevee is that the bevel node still doesn't work as pointiness...

realtime = inverted solidify google it. Also there is outline in workbench. So it can be rendered and processed. Also wireframe or skin modifiers with emissive shader can be rendered. May be it exist as experiment in LANPR branch.

* @ Vyacheslav * Maybe not necessarily a shader but a realtime freestyle viewer. Where you can see the outcome of the outlines while you are tweaking it to your preference.

* @ Vyacheslav * That is what I am currently doing. As I can observe, Blender's freestyle gets more of the edge data compared to this method.

I don't know what is the reason why it is not decided to be included realtime in the viewport. Maybe it's more complex than I already know.

* @johnpdelacruz26 * GP is realtime, so, perhaps, it is possible.
