Search file name (with first letters) in Browser window

I know there's a search function in the browser window, but I wish it were like in Windows, where when the browser opens, I could type the first letter of the project I'm looking for into the folder among hundreds of projects. For example, when the browser opens, pressing the letter M would filter the files starting with M. Or it would take me directly to the file that starts with M. If you could do that, it would be great.
