Add the option to use direct sortcuts for all active tools
In all software, the shortcut works in conjunction with the toolbar. example: autodesk w -> move, e -> scale, r -> rotate
The active tools are fine, but you have to polish them and put an option to activate them with a direct shortcut. Because the main advantage for those who come from other software is that "WE DO NOT HAVE TO THINK ABOUT WHICH AXIS SHOULD MOVE". One of the principles of UI & UX is "Do not make me think". And the last important thing add the option of box or lasso selection to active tools.

The box select thing is already a topic, so you should find that one and vote for it. I agree that tools should have shortcuts. Perhaps there could be a preference that sets hotkeys to select operators OR tools. For instance, if the option was on, pressing g would select the translate tool. But if it was off, pressing g would begin moving the object (translate operator) as it does now.
Additionally, this may easily be solved by a keymap, which is a goal for 2.8's release, but not a huge priority since anyone can do it, and of course the keymaps should be made once the changes are finalized. We should at least wait for a release candidate before expecting keymaps.
