Expose active object index to Python
Hello,
(if this request has been stated before, sorry... didn't find anything)
I think it would be a plus if the active object index was exposed to Python.
One example use case: If we had this, we could put objects properly into a UIList and without tricks and hacks. That would be awesome!

This isn't really the right place to ask questions like this. RCS is more of a place to suggest new features or changes to Blender, and not really for asking help questions.
A much better place where you might get some decent answers would be blenderartists.org/c/coding/python-support/19
The Blender discord is also fantastic: discord.gg/blender
If this is a proposal, then you might want to reformat it so it reads a little more like one, perhaps with some practical examples of what it would look like.
Good luck!

Sorry for my late answer....
Thanks for your tips and links!
Maybe my question wasn't clear enough. It was not meant as a help request at all. It's only a missing feature. :)
The feature I requested was: Please expose the active object index to the Python API.
(it's indeed not exposed.)
Best, Michael
PS: I reworked my proposal so that it is a little clearer
