PROXY and SCATTERING

Greetings to all developers and users of blender 3d. I am a 3D visualizer with a lot of experience. In the short term plans to switch to full-time work in blender 3d. The only thing stopping me so far is the ability to use heavy geometry for scattering over very large spaces. I was recommended plugins like Scatter5, Bagapay and similar. On small plots (up to 15x15 meters) everything works fine, but when you need to plant heavy trees (about 500 thousand polygons for each tree), grass and flowers on an area of more than 100x100 meters - everything starts to slow down terribly. There may be a solution that I don't know about. And perhaps it is not yet possible to implement in the current version of blender. As an example, I can greet two plugins for 3ds max - Multiscatter and forest pack. By itself, 3dmax does not know how to do this, but with these plugins, tasks can be completed very quickly and conveniently. Whether work is being done in this direction or there are already some ready-made tools. I am ready to provide all possible assistance from my side as an adviser or tester, since I am very interested in this.

Maybe this will help but yes, I'd want blender to offload geo in disk and only load it to ram while rendering in future; youtu.be/zQIjPQ0cR88

Scattering is already a thing if you use addons, or geometry nodes. Performance can be significantly improved by using instances instead of full duplicates (which I don't know how your addons deal with that, but hopefully they can make use of instances, and if not: you should contact their respective developers instead).

Performance as a whole is constantly being improved in Blender. So, at the end of the day I am not sure what else you could do as a feature proposal.

This is the only thing that keeps me from switching from MAX. Geoscatter kind of works to scatter vegetation but you can't preview proxy geometry in the viewport rendering wich makes it impossible to work with short deadlines.

Hi Evengy! I think a lot of people are after this, sadly it seems it's not a priority. I was on the last Bcon 2023 talking to some people about this. I changed my workflow totally to Blender 3 years ago and I'm struggling with this kind of situation, for huge scenes even if you have only one piece of the original geometry of the model and you instance everything else there is a lot of geometry to handle for one scene and your file could escalate easily to 5gb to 10gb. So some kind of proxy system like Vray or Corona is more needed in m humble opinion.
