Change default Pie Menu 'Ctrl+S' Shortcut (or make them customizable OR add a save incremental menu entry)
Sorry for the complicated title but this is a bit of a compound problem: The default Pie Menu Add-On uses Ctrl-S to bring up the menu with Save and even more interesting: Incremental save.
Incremental saving is not a default menu entry in blender so the pie menu scripts the functionality in Python. Thus the user needs to use the pie menu if they don't want to script the functionality themselves otherwise.
Now the big problem with this is: Ctrl + S is the default shortcut for saving a file. In nearly any software on nearly any plattform. Without the pie menu activated it is the default in Blender as well.
Now when the user connects Using Ctrl-S for incremental saving of a file this can result in unwanted saving of a file very easily.
- You simply forget to activate or deactivate the addon in the first place. Now you Hit Ctrl-S to bring up the menu with incremental saving but you've already saved your file. Hopefully only needing to restore the .blend1
- If you get used to using Ctrl-S as a standard for bringing up the save pie you become prone to do this in other software as well. This might result in dataloss in the same way as you might save a file you actually wanted to save as an incremental file.
In other software there is usually a standard menu entry to take care of this, which you can customize. Maya usually has it on Ctrl + Alt + S which works farily well. Otherwise you can simply create a coherent shortcut yourself.
The other solution would be to at least make the pie menus Shortcuts customizable. Personally, I'd be absolutely fine invoking the save menu pie with Alt+S or something just to differentiate it clearly. That way the user won't have to fear when hitting Ctrl+S that it maybe only saves the file without invoking the menu.
