Easier way to close windows.
Having to join and re-create two or more windows just to get rid of one window is a hassle. A simple way would be to implement an (x) to close a window and the other windows would resize to take its place. It would be beginner friendly too. Additionally I have another way that could be faster and gives more control. In pictures....

You are showing Blender 2.93. We are on Blender 3.1 now. And Blender got quite an update on its area management on 3.0 .
So, rule of thumb: never make feature proposals from an outdated version.
Oops my bad. I was too busy in the last few months to notice Blender 3x was out. Looks like it has a close area feature. So that should do it.
I think this should be toggleable in the preferences, because surely some people don't want it to behave like that.
