Quick selecting elements like in X ray mode.

In edit mode, while holding down the alt key, select the model elements under others, just like in X ray mode. In object mode ,while holding down the alt key and click objects layered , a selecting list is there, so the alt key is opportune.

maybe interactively highlight them? imgur.com/a/EoOimsS

Maybe. Now if you decided to work without X-Ray, not always, but often enough, how could you know where exactly this inner box (like on your image) element inside bigger box element to point it by cursor correctly and call element select menu?... Whole this concept looks strange for me. If you want to have easy access to elements - just turn ON X Ray and select whatever you want.

Yep, you right i also don't think that will use this feature but if someone ask for, it means some users can find it helpful, i suppose .. while testing once list selection in object mode i noticed that highlighting outer borders on objects would have more sense than just names..as for me i always work in mess just isolating and hiding objects temporary xD

I often cannot see the structure of an object in X-ray mode. In order to manipulate a few vertices, I was forced to repeatedly enter and exit the X-ray mode frequently just to select them.

  • Alt in edit mode already used for loops.
  • In object mode objects are some already determined thing, how you imagine this has to work with "elements" something? Element A, Element B, Element C?

what is element b ?

In object mode ,while holding down the alt key and click objects layered , a selecting list is there I guess dude want something like this but in Edit mode. If in Object mode we see objects names - what we have to see in Edit mode? Element A, Element B something?...

Exactly - what is Element B, which one of them, how this could help with selecting?

Lauloque

Exactly 🙃 Theoretically, at least for vertices it could be simple. Vertices already have an ID, the menu could display vertices ID. But the user would have no clue which ID refers to which vertex. And Blender doesn't let you know your vertices IDs easily:

Alt-click is used to select loops, but alt-drag was not. What I mean is that, in the object mode pressing alt had been used to select the occluded object, so in the editing mode, it should also be possible to press alt to achieve the function of selecting the occluded element.
