Shading style - selected
One of things I miss in Blender, and its a very useful one, is shade selected. Now, why would you want shade select different to the background? And yes, that's not of concern for Eevee or Cycles.
- It saves a lot performance, as you just need to view the shader and textures of the selected object, not of the entire scene. And now its not just about hiding all other, its about quickly check option by a single click, to select them.
- The rest is unimportant, when you model, you could set all to wireframe, but have the model by shaded, flat or with textures. That way you can see the result a bit closer and still see how the rest of the scene interat with the geometry.
- Overview. When only the select is visible in shaded, or wireframe, it differs from the rest and makes it much easier to check that object. Like you have scene in a room and what to check the geometry of the furniture, the rest could be wireframe so you easily see through.
- Not affected by x-ray. If you want to select through the mesh and use X-Ray not all of your scene turns Xray and if you want to have a wireframe overlay, its just the selected one. Easy to see if everything is ok with it.
I'm not sure if there is any software that doesn't have that beside Blender. Its an essential feature artist use daily. Not that you have to have it, but it makes live easier. Hope I inspired you.
