The keys [S] and [D] are too close to each other (This file has not been saved yet)
In Blender 2.8, it happened to me twice in my life that I'm not sure exactly which key I pressed, [S] or [D]? Because they are too close to each other, and when I press on keyboard, I never look at the keyboard. Just imagine when I press the key [S] very fast then the probability that I press the key [D] is high, it's dangerous.
So look at the Microsoft User Interface (MS Paint, Notepad, Wordpad, etc.): [Save] = [S] and [Don't Save] = [N] but not [D]. I have a question for you: "Why Microsoft doesn't use the key [D] but [Don't Save] starts with the letter D ?", can you answer that question?
It's normal that Blender 2.8 uses the key [D] for [Discard Changes] because that message box is a new feature started about a few months ago.

GOOD CATCH! That definitely could be a problem.
I didn't notice that until now, but you're so right. It could be great also if the arrow keys could work, so we can press "Enter" to save, or press the "right arrow" and then "enter" to discard changes. Because using "arrows" and "enter" this way is a system that works on all softwares... except Blender. ^^'
I mean it is true but I usually just click on "save". But I agree, this might cause quite a lot frustration
use you mouse dude. no I'm joking
