Better tools to align custom shapes to Bones.

One of the weak points in Blender's rigging toolset is the creation of custom shapes and aligning them to the bones, not only it is too hard but it takes a long time as i have discovered.

I spent 5 days doing my custom shapes manually because i couldn't find a working addon or a script that does it in 2.8 since i don't have any programming experience.

I Believe better tools like this should be built into Blender as it covers a fundamental lack of a core features that i don't understand how it was left out.

As an example of an addon that's no longer working or updated.

Besides I think there could be more display options than just either the bare bone or a custom shapes.

It could be done in a similar way as the render object in particles:

demo particles display For bones, we would just need a drop down menu with display types, and the usual scale, bone size, wire, custom transform...

As for the available shapes:

First, some simple custom shapes could be available out of the box. A lot of rigs use simple cubes, circles and other primitives as custom shapes, why not have these. We could basically have the same list as the Empties' display types:

empty object displays

Second, there are a lot of rigs, especially tiny ones like facial controllers, when you just need a "little things that's easy to select but doesn't clutter the model". Usually we often use very little boxes or spheres. I think another nice alternative could be billboards, the same we have in the viewport when we use halo as render type in particles systems:

Try the align bone scripts addon here: github.com/scaredyfish/orient_bone_shapes It's saved me a lot of headache in this area
