Outliner should allow selecting Selection-disabled objects

It is possible to Disable Selection on objects so that they can't be selected in the viewport. You can still select them in the outliner and adjust their properties, which is great.

However, when selecting these Selection-disabled objects in the Outliner, they are still not selected in the viewport, which is pretty confusing. A lot of operators or views (drivers for instance) won't work as it thinks that nothing is selected viewport, while the Outliner and the Properties panel tells you the opposite.

Non-selectable objects should only affect the viewport and not the outliner. You should be able to select any object in the outliner and it would select it in the viewport, even if is has Selection disabled.

YES. It's both confusing AND annoying. (iow, sooo Blender-esque.)

* @jeric_synergy * Same for me.

I agree, the selection toggle should only be for viewport manipulation, not for outliner manipulation, as much as the other toggles are for the viewport only.

It's not like you'd accidental select something in the Outliner the same way you can in 3d view. A big yes from me.

You might want to also post this suggestion on this dedicated forum thread:

Oh yes! Always thought that too. If you're literally clicking to select it's because you want to select it. :p

This would be great to have!
