Simultaneously texture paint the color and normal map

Today you can texture paint any texture (Color, Normal/Height, rougness etc.)

If you have a PBR texture you would like to stamp on a surface with painting you can use it as a brush, but have to choose which channel you want to paint (e.g. Color) but then you have no way to easily match the coresponding other channels.

The request is to be able to select a PBR texture with Color, Height and Roughness and use this texture as brush texture to paint the whole PBR texture on the object as you like.

The only alternative today is to apply the texture to the whole surface in tecture editor and then paint a mask, but this is cleaarly not the same (if you have a texture covering say 1m2 if you apply to a much larger surface you'll have to face seams etc.)

I vibe "coded" this little addon for PBR texturing/texture editing: youtu.be/zsyOzX57jY4 github.com/cosmical2021/multi-painter-blender It is still work in progress but you are free to try it.

To get this, are you stamping from a single pair of images at once or are you painting a reveal from mask to show the material that carries the two mapped images? I ask because even using SP a bit, I saw it as more of a multiple mask going on with UV mapped details, otherwise using decals that had corresponding maps that then adopted the mesh data of the main object. I am confused on whether this is actually happening in some software, actually painting multiple maps at once. Do you have any reference I can look at to see how that works elsewhere? Upvoting as it is a strong tool to have if it is possible.

What I would like to do is to use a brush made of several layers (color, height, roughness), possibly coming from a PBR material, and paint simultaneously on corresponding different textures (color, height, roughness)
