Vertex Group color coding akin to Collections
Sometimes there are so many vertex groups it can be confusing. It would be cool to be able to color code them similar to collections.

What if these these colors were tied to bone groups? Or that will be too hidden?
Thinking about it more - that would make colouring impossible outside of armature setups... On other hand it's usually bones that produce hundreds of vertex weights, so colors would be most beneficial in these cases so idk...
Well, the idea of having this Automation (¿as an Option?) for the Bone Groups is actually good; but the main problem is that we might want to have more Colors available for other features relative to Vertex Groups. For example, Object Modifiers (Mask, Shrinkwrap, Solidify, etc.), and even some of them we might want to differentiate Color-wise. Additionally, sometimes we want just a Vertex Groups for organization purposes (of the mesh), and it would be interesting to be able to distinguish these, Color-wise, from the Object Modifiers' Vertex Groups and the Deform Bones' Vertex Groups.
This is more specific and maybe not that relevant, but sometimes it could be useful to not associate the Bone Groups' Colors with the Vertex Groups —that's why that Automation could be an Enabling/Disabling Option instead of a rigid system. But if there was already this simple, default Color Automation from the Bone Groups into the Vertex Groups, that would be very nice already.
YES PLEASE!!!! Also bonegroups.
¡Brilliant!
