Deform Curves from nearest point on surface

Like a "mesh deform" modifier but for hair objects (blender 3.3 onwards). Currently, the "Deform Curves on Surface" geometry node uses the root orientation and position on the Mesh surface to deform hair curves. For long hair running accross a flexing shape, it would be ideal for the end points to follow the nearest point on the mesh surface during deformation (Think animals with long fur). This would be functionally similar to what the "mesh deform" modifier does with geometry meshes. The attached video demonstrates the issue this would solve.

I have found a workaround to do this but having a dedicated node in the future would be better. I am now passing the hair curve geometry to another geo through an "Object Info" node, I convert the curves to mesh, then applying a surface deform to that object seems to do what I wanted.
