Apply rest pose without duplicating Armature Modifier

The current way of Applying Rest Poses doesn't produce the expected results without some extra steps.

You are required to adjust to your new pose, then duplicate your Armature Modifier, then Apply the original Armature Modifier, then go into pose mode and finally Apply Rest Pose. Although it's not a lot of extra steps, it would be helpful and more intuitive if those steps were done in the background.

Is changing the rest pose something you do frequently? I'm not sure I understand why there needs to be a super-fast way of doing this. Sounds a bit like something that would be ideal as an add-on for your workflow.

* @Jason van Gumster * I'm using the same rig for several different characters. Their topology is the same, but their proportions are different. Their facial features are also seperate geometry with different positions.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the correct process in the official documentation, only via forums and blogs, so at least lucky so many people have shared this :)

It's definitely not something that's done often in the whole scale of a project. But every now and then I do run into some things in Blender that don't have the expected results. Just making sure I'm not overlooking obvious things too, because I'm such a Blender noob :\

* @etufo2 * Ah. That makes a bit more sense... though I'm not sure why you're not just removing the modifier altogether, adjusting the armature to your mesh and then adding a new armature modifier.

In any case, maybe it makes the most sense to wrap the repeated steps into an add-on so you can quickly do those repeated steps in a single go.

Preferences>Addons>3D View> Modifier Tools will give you an easy way to copy the modifier at least.
