Collection highlighting

I know there have been some thread to this topic, just adding to that.

A: Selecting an collection in the outliner is currently not highlighting the geo in the viewport. But it would be nice if it does.

B: Selecting an object in the viewport which is part of an collection is not very visible in the outliner. In Solaris there is an toggle if it should jump to the selected object in the outliner or just highlight the parent. Wether thats a wanted behaviour the parent collection should be much better highlighted.

The thing is that in houdini you select the whole collection. But in Blender when you click the collection you don't actually the select the objects inside you select the collection folder only. But if you double click the collection icon then you will select the whole individuals objects in the collection.

So in a way this feature already exists, kinda.

yes, but by selecting the folder i also want to see its content. Moving your mouse exactly on the small icon and double clicking takes a bit more time and one more click. Which can add upp if you gonna do that a lot.

It could be if you hold "Alt+Click" it could select all objects. You can already do so with assign shortcut, but you still have to select the collection first and then Alt+Click for it to work.

Thanks for the tip, i just think it should be easier than creating a new shortcut or doubleclicking a small icon where otherwise you just click anywhere in the whole bar of the object.

It should behave more like an real object. If you create an instance of your collection and select it in the outliner, its highlighting its objects in the viewport, really nice, just as expected. It should just do that with the normal, not instanced collection too.

Just like if you select an group in Maya or solars houdini its highlighting it in the viewport, very fast, easy, intuitive and informative.

While houdinis viewport sucks in a lot of ways that a very good feature.
