Boolean modifier - fast solver by default
Boolean modifier now defaults to Exact mode, which is so slow it often freezes Blender for such a long periods of time it's indistinguishable from program crash.

this only happens on the most recent nightly builds. as part of the 3.0 cycle the 'exact' system is getting a perf boost, hopefully to the point where 'fast' can be deprecated and removed.
It's really buggy and many issues around wireframes as how this works, eg. check my ticket developer.blender.org/T88727
right, that's how software development works. If you want stable, use an LTS build- otherwise you're going to have to live with bugs while things are in progress.
Yes please..
I think the problem is wider. We need an entire tab in Preferences which will let us set defaults for most of the actions. E.g. for me, it's super annoying that dissolve edges dissolves vertices too. Every freakin time I dissolve edges, I need to uncheck "dissolve vertices" because it doesn't remember the freakin setting. Another example: set default properties for each newly created material in a new file, e.g. values in Principled BSDF or Blend/Shadow Mode for Eevee (I always want it hashed, and I'm always annoyed to change them manually). One more example: opening a Blend in an empty Blender window will load the UI by default. Loading UI is what I NEVER want to do. I wish I could set a default setting for it.
