Add Filters menu to Image Editor

Just a simple idea: add some of the simple image editing functions like the various blurs, HSV, and curves from the Compositor to the Image Editor interface. It would make creating textures a lot easier.

You can maniputale textures inside the shader editor.

But I know what you mean. It would be really great to have an "output node" from the compositor to use it directly inside the shader editor. I know this technique from Softimage XSI, where this was possible already ten years ago.

* @Christoph Werner * No, I don't mean the shader editor. I'm not sure why I'd want image editing abilities in the shader editor? Genuine question, I'm willing to be convinced. I mean, sure, if we're going to add shading properties to brushes, that might be cool. But I'd still prefer to use the 3D and 2D texture painting interfaces, and have shading properties (like SSS strength or displacement height ) added to those brushes.

* @kobaltkween * OK, I got it now... I meant something different.

* @contact.cgvirus * Nope. I mean in the image editor , a menu that goes, View Brush Image Filters, and below Filters at least some of the things you can already do in the compositor.

I'm frankly ambivalent over them being destructive or non-destructive. On the one hand, I think it would be simplest to not have the overhead of, say, 100 minor edits. Right now I do this stuff in an image editor, and over a whole project I definitely do that many things, even just simple filter stuff. I repeatedly blur to smooth stuff out in the beginning, for instance. I don't need to keep around all those steps, and they'd quickly get bulky.

On the other, adjustment layers are a big reason I still use Photoshop. If the interface for the filters included adjustment layers in the image editor, that would be incredible . But I'd still want destructive, just changes the image filters, and the ability to apply adjustment layers.

I only mentioned the compositor because its obvious that the functionality exists. It's the interface that needs help. Specifically, the image editor/image paint interface. Not the compositor. I shouldn't have to switch interfaces as I paint. That would be a really terrible workflow.

* @kobaltkween * What is the limitation of using compositor and watching it in image editor>viewer node instead?
