Modeling Curved Folding with Freeform Deformations (Siggraph Asia 2019)

I found an interesting paper which was presented at Siggraph Asia 2019: igl.ethz.ch/projects/curved-folds/Modeling-Curved-Folds-SA-2019-Rabinovich-et-al.pdf

It looks like it has better interactive freeform for folded models. You can already creatre models like that but this looks more advanced. And this could be interesting for cloth as well.

I am not that kind of super technical dude but maybe someone else here has the right background.

gave you a +1 to get you back to positive numbers, I think you may have been downvoted because people didn't understand what the proposal was about. If you could find a video or explain in less technical terms what the paper is about you might get more traction.

from what I gather from skimming the paper is that it's actually more akin to creasing than folding, which is actually really interesting. I still can't think of a practical thing I would use it for, but I'm sure somebody out there would make a killer short film about origami characters or something :)

* @testure * I didn't really understand it either to be honest. I was going through all the Suggraph 2019 papiers and this one looked quite interesting. It's more than creasing I guess.

There is no interest in doing a flashy pitch for a feature. If someone downvoted me they can do it. All these little kids waiting for Maya features copy pasted into Blender.
