Blender Has Everything Except One Thing: Real-Time Interactivity

I'm relatively new to Blender, so I'm coming at this with fresh eyes and general context shaped largely by frustration with UE5's bloat. That said, I don't want to propose something impossibly complex, but I do want to say this: Blender already has such incredible graphical capability and optimization that it's genuinely baffling we're not talking more about real-time interactive content creation.

This software can produce visuals so stunning they make professionals reconsider their entire toolset — and yet we're barely scratching the surface of what it could do. Meanwhile, the game industry is struggling with engines that prioritize marketing features over practical performance. We're seeing games with worse optimization than titles from a decade ago, all because engines are pushing technologies that look impressive in demos but create genuine problems in production.

Blender has proven it understands optimization and artist workflows. Why shouldn't it explore deeper integration into game development? Not necessarily building a full engine overnight, but addressing the gap that's becoming increasingly obvious: the industry needs tools that prioritize what actually works over what sounds revolutionary.

Why should developers keep adapting their entire pipeline to engines that weren't designed with artist-first workflows in mind — especially when those engines are creating more problems than they're solving? Blender could potentially bridge that gap more naturally, focusing on practical performance rather than feature bloat.

Look, even if this vision takes decades to fully realize, I just hope someone starts addressing these workflow inefficiencies now. The industry is clearly asking for alternatives — maybe it's time Blender considered answering that call, even if just through better integration or collaboration with emerging engines that share its philosophy.

Blender has already revolutionized 3D creation once by being practical and artist-focused. Why not explore pushing that approach into interactive spaces where it's desperately needed?

Do you mean something like Blend4WEB, Armory or UpBGE activities?

Blender already explored the game engine world. It wasn’t popular with developers, and thankfully the effort was abandoned.
