Please please pretty please can we have a way of Un-Hiding multiple selected objects!

I've just moved over to 2.8 from using other well known 3d software, what a treat 2.8 really is, big congrats to the devs!

One thing that has puzzled me in my transition is the complete lack of a way to Un-hide multiple selected hidden objects. When you have a simple scene it's not a huge deal as you can click the "eye" icon one at a time on each object in the outliner......however...I've been dealing with some CAD data with some fairly heavy hierarchies.

Part of my work flow is to hide unnecessary sub-hierarchies when I'm not working on them. Currently if I'm working on a different hierarchy in the scene that I'd like to toggle On/Off..... my only option after turning it's parent and children OFF is to Un-hide the entire scene (even if I have only the hidden objects selected) which in my case reveals many millions of polys. Clicking the "eye" icon in this situation isn't going to cut it as I'm dealing with 500+ objects.

I know I could use Collections as a work around but it feels a bit of a forced task simply because we can't un-hide multiple selected objects at once. Also I'd have to know upfront which parts of my scene need to live in respective Collections, it just feels like I'd be slowing my workflow down needlessly.

I've also been told you could probably do this from python but again....being able to Un-hide a mutli selection surely should be a built-in thing right?? At least it was in all other 3d software I've used.

Maybe I've just totally missed something obvious here, if I have I've love to know the answer.

Thanks,

James.

There used to be a way to do that in the outliner, just by selecting objects, right click and click "toggle visible". But that whole menu seem to be missing in 2.8 for some reason. {attachment blender_QVrtiQQN8Ypng}

I agree that managing the visibility in 2.8 could be better. For example, since background images are now actual objects, if you want to isolate a mesh with the / key, it also hides the reference images, it is mildly infuriating. Or when you press Alt+H in the object mode and it unhides everything you'd like to keep permanently hidden like guide meshes for shrinkwrapping or boolean objects. I wish there were a keep hidden checkbox or something.

Right now, i use collections to manage the visibility of objects, but it feels wrong that you need to move objects between collections just to hide or unhide them. This defeats the purpose of collections as organizational tools.

H should be a toggle on/off of hiding for only the currently selected objects. That includes swapping hidden state if you happen to have both hidden and un-hidden objects selected.

alt+H can remain as "unhide all hidden objects"

* @thinsoldier * Completely agree with you here, H as toggle/swap hidden state is exactly how it should work.
