different framerates for image sequences in image texture node

right now you can only sync imported image-sequence framerate to the blendfile's framerate ..

in a cartoon though you might want to import animation on 2s, 3s, 4s, or even 5ths aka 12fps, 8fps, 6fps .. especially for background animation which you created in another software or in another blender file.

theres a workaround to use just the offset with an expression

floor(frame /2) ... for 2s

floor(frame /3) ... for 3s

and so on .

BUT can this be made cyclic ? with the expression? ..

it would be nice if we had that in the ui , so we can choose to evaluate on every 2nd , 3rd , and so on frame

also everytime you reimport a new image sequence al the values are reset and you have to set them again including the expression, keyframes etc.

I use the offset when I need an image sequence to fit a certain timing, but it would be nice to just have an FPS menu.

It think this is a nice idea, we just need to make a good UI for this. IMO your proposal of 'evaluate' can be improved as it isn't clear what that means. Every frame the node/image is evaluated, you just don't want it to change each scene frame.

Looking at similar ways this is called a step (See frame step) So perhaps we should use a similar property.

We should also take into account the order which frame to pick in conjunction with the other properties. Eg scene_frame/step + offset gives different results than (scene_frame + offset) / step . For simplicity I didn't include frames, start frame and cyclic.

You can create drivers for offset.. eg. " #frame/2*-1 " would give You frame on twos, and " #frame/3*-1 " on threes.

that wont work, it looks ok in your gif , but test it with an actual image sequence. the speed of animation stays the same as blender project (too fast) while introducing blank (pink) texture when the sequence is looped..
