Increase Frame Range limit

When dealing with tracking data for VFX, it’s often tied to timecode, where 00:00:00:00 equals frame 1.

If shooting in 24 fps, then midnight would be frame 2,073,600, and if shooting 60fps, it’s over 5 million etc. if 240fps (super slow mo), it’s over 20,000,000.

Can we increase the frame range limit to be something like 1,000,000,000 so we’d never run out?

Thank you in advance!

I ran into Blender's frame range limit when trying to edit World Blender Meetup Day footage which goes for 24 hours straight. I gave up in the end and used Davinci Resolve. I agree, we should increase the frame limit.

I would suggest to introduce a timecode offset. The reason is larger numbers are easier to get less precise. This is how computers work, not something specific to Blender. In Blender keyframes can be set between frames, having the precision issues here would mean that animations will be off and cannot be corrected. Using a timecode offset independent from the start frame would increase the precision.

Current max frame is 1048574 :o
