Add "Statistics" and "Performance" Preview Overlay Options to the VSE
This proposal suggests adding Statistics ( Strip Count ) and Performance Preview overlay options to the Video Sequence Editor (VSE) , similar to the existing overlay options available in the 3D Viewport. These overlays provide runtime performance information that is extremely useful for debugging, optimization, and workflow transparency while editing video.
Evaluation 12.84 ms
Synchronization 3.10 ms
Total 15.94 ms
Strips 3 / 42
Benefits :
Quickly identify heavy effects or transitions slowing playback.
See whether proxies or cached frames are being used.
Diagnose why playback drops below real time.
For Technical Artists & Pipeline Developers
Monitor which strips or modifiers introduce performance bottlenecks.
Measure the impact of effects such as color grading, transformations, or speed control on evaluation time.
Provide consistent debug tools across Blender’s editors.

I've edited video (professionally) for a lot of years in other software, and have never needed some kind of "scene performance stats" when I'm editing.
The core issue is that users need full caching and speed and fast consistent playback - not an overlay that tells them what the CPU/GPU is choking on. Your eyes are enough for that. Add a heavy blur, and framerate tanks? That's because of the blur. Etc.
