Border edge detection

Node input for detecting border edges (like border edges in selection menu of edit mode). Node outputs gradient value that begins from edge of the mesh towards it's center. Should work like inner glow style in photoshop.

This would be fantastic to have this out of the box!

In Blender DevTalk there is a conversation in-flight about including some useful Node Groups with Blender when it ships.

One of these is an "Edge Finder" group that looks about right for what you're suggesting here.

Can you give an example of what this would be useful for?

* @tomjk * couple of cases comes into mind, first example is auroras which needs a gradient attenuation on both sides to avoid sharp edges. Second example is ribbons or banners and you want to make a stripes along them. All of it is achievable by available tools with some thought invested, but my suggestion suppose to make it easier

* @tomjk * this is also userful for roads, for building facades where we wand to build up dirt around the edges of a flat surface
