Weight painting brush type: ability to paint on inside out faces without painting through the face

I think this would make blender weight painting immensely less frustrating. Today if my weight paints are really messed up on my model and I'm trying to paint a particular vertex that is inside out, I can't paint on it unless I unselect "front faces only" in the brush settings. But then my weight painting goes right through that inside out vertex and paints other random parts of my mesh. This is incredibly frustrating and turns weight painting into a game of whack-a-mole.

I'd really like to be able to paint the vertex my brush is over, regardless of where the normals for that face happen to be pointing. But I don't want to paint "through" that vertex.
