Visualization of overlapped and flipped UVs
As far as I know there is no way to know when UVs are overlapped and/or flipped in blender. On game assets we use a lot overlap UVs to save texture space, so having a way to know which UVs are overlapped is going to help us a lot.

My student is attempting to solve this issue by writing an addon as a part of his bachelor's thesis. Check out the git page, or you can download the addon for free on gumroad.

I ran into this today, I'm amazed and appalled we can't even see overlapped UVs in Blender!
Why is it helpful to see flipped UV's?
Well sometimes is bad having flipped UVs because if you add some text to the texture is going to be reversed. Having a way to see this Uvs could prevents us from this and flip the text on the texture or flip the UV. But I think putting a checker with numbers could be enough to identify this UVs, but would be cool to see it directly on the UVs. This is more like a plus to me, what is more important I think is the visualization of overlapped UVs. Thank you for your attention Campbell, have a nice day : )
* @Campbell Barton * Flipped (reversed) UVs result in incorrect normal map bakes which is a big deal for game dev pipelines.
Being able to see / select overlapping UVs is essential!!
