Indicate Global / Local View
In 2.79 with the 3D Nav addon, there is an option on the toolbar for Local / Global view. This is an indispensable option.
I know this addon hasn't been converted for 2.80 yet (I just downloaded the nightly).
So here is my suggestion: have that option indicate which is the current view mode, perhaps using radio buttons, or by highlighting "Local" or "Global".
I am not sure where this option is planned to be shown. If not at the top as a floating item, you could put it under the N menu, under the top View panel perhaps, since the T menu now seems to be mostly relegated to icons?
Ugh, so many "View" options in different places...
The reason for this request: it has happened a few times that I was in Local View and didn't know it, I could not view my objects and it was hard to figure out why (geee, is it a layer issue... no, ahh... local view).
Thanks!

Thanks for that!
I didn't notice it there, particularly because I never look at that perspective label. Something like that should stand out. I like your solutions.
I like the border idea - with many skins it is hard to tell what grey color is being used to indicate a setting is "On" or "Off" (the dark grey or the lighter grey...). This could work well for other interface items.
@paul.wanamaker: It does need to stand out. You've pointed out a major issue with the current state of the 2.8 interface. Nothing really stands out. Like you said: which version of gray is on or off? I really, really like the current state of Blender, This is especially obvious to me when I open 2.79. We really have a MAJOR upgrade here the likes of which I haven't seen in a long time. But there are some parts that need more polishing. What you've pointed out is one of them.
I never used the 3d Nav addon, but I did use local mode a lot using the default "/" shortcut. It was indicated with the text "(Local)" in the top left corner of the screen. It would be nice, though to make it more obvious. Maybe adding a colored border around the view that is in local mode, or something similar. An escape button that appears in the top would be nice as well - similar to the "Back to Previous" button that appears at the top when you maximize a view.
