Camera orientation

I'd like to have a "flip camera orientation" button in the camera settings, per camera.

Let's say I have my document resolution set up with 3840 x 2160, then that's how all new cameras sees the scene. As it should.

But if I want to have one of my cameras in portrait orientation without messing with the rest of the previously set up cameras, some kind of "toggle orientation" for that particular camera would be really handy.

Just like real life photography. Some shots look better wide and some look better in portrait orientation.

IMHO that proposal links to all the different variants of per-camera settings that have been requested plenty of times already:

blender.community/c/rightclickselect/

You can look at the topics on that link, some people linked other similar topics, shared addons that give some solutions to that, ...

  1. Create a null, same position and rotation as the camera.
  2. Make null the parent of camera.
  3. Rotate null 90 degrees on the Y.

  • People who use only Blender would not know what a null is.
  • It would be a rotation on local Z, not Y
  • You forgot mentioning that it doesn't make the render vertical. This still renders horizontally as per the resolution settings, and then it would need to rotate the output render in comp. This isn't really a good solution.

They should learn the general terminology as well, not just rely on Blender speak.

Sorry, i just dragged the slider in the transform panel and didn't note the offset. Yes, with a gizmo in-view, it will be better to use Local Z.

It seemed self-evident to add a node.
