Render Filename Tokens

Add a dynamic token system for Blender’s render output filenames similar to Cinema 4D. Tokens like $prj for project name and $camera for active camera would automate naming and organizing render files without manual renaming.

Problem:

Blender currently lacks an easy way to auto-name output files based on scene context, requiring manual file management for multi-camera or complex projects.

Proposed Solution:

Implement filename tokens parsed at render time, allowing users to write templates like: renders/$prj_$camera/frame_##.exr

This system should work for both the main render output path and the compositor’s File Output node.

Suggested Tokens:

$prj — Current project name
$camera — Active camera name
$scene — Current scene name
$frame — Frame number
$date — Render date
$time — Render time
$user — Blender username or artist name

Benefits:

• Streamlines multi-camera and organized rendering

• Avoids file overwrites and simplifies asset management

• Improves pipeline efficiency and user experience
