Expose Image Texture Node "Offset" as an input socket

Screenshot From 2026-04-10 11-25-05.png

It would be great if we could have the Offset value exposed as an input socket. This way I can avoid using Drivers to control this dynamically in linked scenes.

If this were to be exposed as a socket, then I could use node group inputs to control this value rather than a myriad of drivers nested within node groups which are more difficult to access in linked scenes.

My current use case is a hero asset in a project that is linked into many shot files. This hero asset has many animated texture sequences that need to play at different times per shot.

Presently, I control this by adding integer Custom Properties on my rig controllers that are driving the offset value on their respective image texture nodes. To do this though, I need to lean heavily on library overrides on the image texture nodes them selves within node groups. I was thinking it would be easier control this earlier in the scene graph using node group inputs.

This echoes to the image socket feature in Shader Nodes which has been asked for ages haha. This is complex because it requires to completely rethink a part of how shader nodes work, especially how it treats Image Data-Blocks and single values.

But good thing for you, this feature is currently in development as an experimental feature : projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/151575
