Geometry Nodes - "Is Input Plugged" (new node proposal)

It would be very useful to have a boolean node, that indicates if there is a manual input in the socket of an exposed parameter a node group, such as:

  • No noodle is connected in the socket = False
  • A noodle is connected in the socket = True

The current way to do it, would be to expose the Switch node's boolean checkbox (in the example below). But that would require the user to tick the switch checkbox to activate the option to use his custom shape.

I'd like to remove that manual box ticking from the user, so if he inputs something, his custom input has the priority, but if he doesn't input anything, the node group falls back to a default behavior. To my knowledge, this is currently impossible to do with the standard "Compare" and "Boolean Math" nodes…

So "Is Null" is what it is…

I'm not familiar with that site. What is the status of this node then? Is it a proposal? Is it waiting for reviews from devs? Was it accepted?

Yes, this new dev site. This discussed on geometry node module meeting, but not accepted yet. Is Null is just renamed Compare node, what compare input object with empty input.

Well let's hope it does! Thanks.

I like this proposed behavior, but I think it lack the null option in the pull request you linked. Here is a proposal of how I would see that : Proposal
