preview all types of data in FILE BROWSER
It would be cool if we had the ability to preview ALL types of files that blender works with! Preview of such formats as .obj .fbx, as it is done in cinema4d for example, or maya. You just drag ANY file from the explorer onto the stage and it is added.

the problem is that Blender doesn't "handle" any file format except for .blends. what you're basically asking for is the ability for addons to read and generate thumbnail data from arbitrary file formats, which is a different can of worms.
